VEG BIRYANI

My cousin sister gave me this recipe of a biryani which she makes. I tried it and it came out very well. I am sharing it with you all. Thank you Akhila.
Ingredients
  • Basamati Rice - 1 cup
  • Vegetables - carrot, beans, peas, capsicum (Red, Green, Yellow) Potato each 1/4 cup
  • Red chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Onions - 2 (Chopped lengthwise )
  • Oil and Ghee
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric a pinch
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Pulao leaf - 2
  • Cinnamon sticks - 2
  • Cloves - 2
  • Pinapple flower - 1

(Pineapple flower is available in india. I am sure if we can get it here. I still have to enquire in a few shops for that. I have made biryani without adding this ingredient)

For masala paste to grind

  • Green chillies - 2
  • Garlic - 2
  • Onion - 1
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
  • Coriander - 1 tsp

Method

  1. Wash the rice and soak it for 30 minutes using 1-1/2 cup water and a pinch of salt
  2. Grind all the ingrediants for grinding.
  3. Cut all the vegetables into lengthwise except peas
  4. Heat oil and ghee in a wok
  5. Add onions fry till translucent
  6. Add turmeric, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom fry for 2 minutes
  7. Add pulao / bay leaf and pineapple flower fry for 2 minutes
  8. Add the Grinded masala saute for 2 minutes
  9. Add chilli powder, vegetables and salt stirfry for 5 minutes
  10. Add fried masalas into the rice mix well, place it into the rice cooker

Serve with raita
