I was born and brought up in Mysore, a very beautiful & idyllic city in the state of Karnataka in India. I am proud to say that I am from the Hebbar Iyengar community. About 5 years back we moved to United States. We have a 2 little handsome boys who takes up all my time and has given a lot of purpose, meaning and color to our life.
Welcome to my foodie blog " Mala's Kitchen " previously known as ' Nalapaka '. I started this blog in 2007 with some help from my dearest hubby (Prakash). This is a pure vegeterian foodie blog. I love cooking various dishes, you can also call it my passion. Some of the dishes / recipes you will find in this blog are my own and some are borrowed recipes from my mom, my aunts or anyone for that matter but i also add variations of my own to these recipes. You can find authentic Iyengar Food, South & North Indian Chaats, North Indian Curries / Dishes. I have also divided them into various categories such as Bachelor's Dishes, Snacks, Desserts etc., for easy access & viewing. This blog is not only an attempt to share the recipes which i cook but also because i get to do something which i am passionate about.
As i mentioned earlier this blog was named as ' Nalapaka '. After an year or so my blog become more popular & familiar and I started getting good response from friends, fellow bloggers and well wishers . So I planned to buy my own webpage and give it a new name (my own name) . I called it Mala's Kitchen becuase all the dishes / recipes are made in my kitchen before they are posted. Also the name sounded very catchy. If you have any feedback or need any clarifications of the recipes please contact me at vanamala.hebbar@gmail.com", I would be very happy to reply to you & also it would give me an opportunity to improve. Measurements on the recipes are completely according to my own taste. Do try your own measurements if you feel the need . I hope people enjoy the dishes / recipes which have been posted .
