Boondi Ladoo

My blog turns 7 years today and it has been an amazing long journey. Hope to continue this with the same vigour with all your support. So much of support my husband and sweet little son's. Thought of doing a sweet today.  Follow the recipe is below .....

Boondi Ladoo

This is a delicious sweet made and enjoyed on almost all occasions. This is my 2nd attempt at making these ladoo's. They came out with good texture and taste. This is a common sweet dish during diwali. Mostly available in shops in India but as far as I know rarely made at home. I have never seen this beging made at my home. Initially i was thinking that its very difficult to attempt this at home. Inspired by my blogger friends I was tempted to attempt this at home. Recipe and tips borrowed from my mom. I could make 12 yummy laddoos within 45 mins.


Makes : 12

Ingredients for Boondi's
  • Besan flour / Gram flour / Kadle mavu - 1 cup
  • Rice flour - 1/2 cup
  • Baking soda - a pinch
  • Water - as required
  • Oil - 300 ml (to deep fry)
Ingredients for Sugar Syrup
  • Sugar / Sakre - 3/4 cup
  • Water  - 1/4 cup (or as required)
  • Saffron / Kesari / Kesar -  2-4 strands
Other Ingrdients
  • Ghee / Naie - 1 tbsp
  • Cashew pieces / Godambi - 2 tsp
  • Raisins / Drakshi - 1 tsp
  • Cardamom / Elarshi - 1/4 tsp crushed
  • Cloves / Lavanga - 4 - 6
Method : Sugar Syrup
  1. Take a large pan add sugar and enough water boil the sugar syrup add saffron stir until become thick 2 strings
Method : Frying Nuts
  • Take a small pan add ghee then add cashews, raisins, cloves fry till cashews golden color remove and keep aside
Method : Boondi's
  1. Prepare the thick batter in a bowl should be dripping consistency
  2. Heat oil , pour a batter in a sieve (laddle with holes) in a hot oil and deep fry and remove drained in the paper towel. 
  3. Do it for batches 
  4. Add all boondis into sugar syrup then add fried nuts and crushed cardamom and mix well
  5. Shape the mixture to make ladoo's 
Tips :
  • Red or Yellow food color  also can be added
  • Perforated laddle available in the stores
  • Edible camphor are also can be added
