Coming up a new recipe Valaikaipoo in tamil(iyengar), In Kannada BaleHoovu Palya it is very rich protein and best for white rice and rasam rice. Banana flower prepared for cooking by oil or boiled or pressure cooker.It takes longer time and also remover outer part.
PrepTime : 20 Mins
Cooking Time : 25-30 Mins
Ingredients
- Valaipoo / Banana Flower - 1
- Karivappale / Curry leaves - 1 string
- Pachmalaka / Green chillies - 1 or 2, chopped
- Thenga / Coconut grated - 2 tbsp
- Yenmchinga rasu / Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Kothambri / Corinader leaves - 2 tbsp chopped
Tempering
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Kadag / Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Kadalparppu / Chana Dal(split yellow dal) - 1 tsp
- Perigyaum / Hing / Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Method
- Remove all the leaves as shown in above pictures
- Chop them finely and soak in a water or neer mor (buttermilk) cook in a medium flame with water or place it in the pressure cooker wait until one whistle ( do not add water to the chopped flower)
- Take a pan heat add oil then add mustard seeds allow to splutter then add chana dal , chillies, hing, curry leaves stir fry till dal turns golden color then add cooked flower stir fry
- Add salt and coconut saute for few mins. Remove from the stove
- Add lemon juice and coriander leaves serve with hot white rice or rasam rice

This recipe is very unusual. I would like to cook this dish. I recommend you to add mint and tarragon to make this dish more scented. If you have any problems, try to use best custom writing. Thank for sharing.
