Upp Pongal / Khara Pongal



Ingredients
  • Rice - 1 cup
  • Moong dal - 1/2 cup
  • Black Pepper - 1 tsp
  • Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida / Hing - a pinch
  • Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Cashews - 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 3 cups
Method
  1. Fry moong dal till brownish and wash it
  2. Wash rice and mix dal and rice
  3. Add Turmeric powder, Water, Coconut, Ghee, Salt, hing
  4. Roast Black pepper and make ruff powder and add it in to the rice and dal. Mix well
  5. Place it in to the pressure cooker. Wait until 4 whistle 
  6. Fry Jeera seperately and add it in to the pongal mix well
  7. Fry cashews into the ghee till brownish
  8. Add cashews to the pongal
Serve with Ghee &  Sugar

Your blog is simply superb! Please post articles on what all things/items needs to be purchased for Karnataka brahmin wedding.Like pooja items, how to decorate and make nice items to be kept for vara pooje, dhare etc. how to make morada baagina, kashi yatre chatri, tamboola,aarathi plate etc look more beautiful..If not all atleast few posts when u find time... Thanks in advance... :-)
